5th-9th March 1991

FJAT VI

Programmed by: DUBRAVKA KNEŽEVIĆ (Belgrade)

FJAT ′91 believes in the core alternative hallmarks – the experiment and avangadrism

FJAT ′91 takes over the subtitles of its participants and remains interactive, kinetically sculptural, organic and ballet-like. These hallmarks are but another name for consistent continuation of exploration into theatre forms on the squares Arthaud, Meyerhold, Cunningham, Wilson

FJAT ′91 in this way promotes an aesthetics that has been a source of contention for years, not only here, but elsewhere as well. Such aesthetics is greatly freed from the burden of words, but not from dramaturgy. If used, the word has only its audio, musical, syncretic function. It is the scene and the emotion, set free in this way, that play the lead role.

FJAT ′91 had no intention to deal with neither daily politics nor with any other issue outside of theatre, nor to concoct an alternative, understood as described above, where there is none. Independent production is a funny plant, susceptible to the most unexpected leanings in space and time, it cannot be forcefully engrafed, but its development can be fostered with gatherings like this one. Titograd should be just the first step at the world and European path with over half a thousand of similar festivals.

FJAT ′91 at the end, recommends those it has selected as first-class export goods. Good luck.
